Velva M. Godwin

Velva M. Godwin, 91, of Bellefontaine, Ohio went home to be with her Lord Saturday morning, June 12, 2021, at Mercy Health – St. Rita’s Medical Center.

Velva was born in Kenton, Ohio February 5, 1930, to the late Pearl R. and Frances (Long) Lease.  She was also preceded in death by a brother, Norman Lease and a sister, Coral Davidson.

Velva married John W. Godwin July 23, 1954, in Huntsville, Ohio and he survives in Bellefontaine.  She is also survived by nieces Teri Rich and Pam LeBar and a nephew, Gary Davidson.

A 1948 graduate of Belle Center High School, Velva was a homemaker and had worked in various stores over the years as a clerk.   She was an avid artist and particularly enjoyed painting on canvas.  Velva was a member of the Bellefontaine First United Methodist Church.

Pastor Ed Beale will officiate a graveside service for Velva Friday, June 18, 2021, at 11 a.m. at the Huntsville Cemetery.
