Timothy Lynn Easton, age 74, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away peacefully at Otterbein Green Hills Senior Life Community on Veteran’s Day, Tuesday, November 11, 2025.
Tim was born on March 14, 1951, in Bellefontaine, Ohio, to the late John Wesley and Dixie Ann (Brugler) Easton. He was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Nadine E. Noel, and his nephew, Andrew J. Schertzer.
On April 17, 1971, Tim married Brenda Elaine LeVan, his beloved wife of 54 years, who survives him along with his sons and daughters-in-law, Wesley E. (April J.) Easton, Daniel L. (Rachel J.) Easton, and James M. (Abby M.) Easton. He was a proud grandfather to Gage W. (Annie Brooks and Blakely Brooks) Easton, Lauren V. (Preston) Henry, Julia G. Easton, Daylon J. Easton, and Avery M. Easton.
He is also survived by his brother, Jeffrey J. (Debbie Copus) Easton; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Victor and Grace Dodds and Earl and Nancy LeVan; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
With commitment to family, duty and hard work, and a skilled carpenter by trade, Tim began his career with Knowlton Construction Company, where he advanced from finish carpenter to Job Superintendent. He later was employed by Peterson Construction Company. Ultimately retiring from the Carpenters Union, he began a second career as a Construction Administrator with Fanny Howey and then retiring from Freytag & Associates, Inc. Throughout his career, Tim contributed to many buildings throughout Ohio including local community landmarks, such as Ohio Hi-Point Career Center, Indian Lake High School, and the new Bellefontaine City Schools Elementary and Middle School buildings. He also built his family’s home in 1978 —a lasting testament to his craftsmanship and his belief that “you only have to do it right once.”
He took great joy in watching his sons play youth baseball and later cheering on his grandchildren in their sports and musical performances, celebrating their achievements with pride.
Tim was a lifetime member of the Tri-State Gun Collectors and could often be found at the Lima gun shows with his friends, where he was known as “the scope guy.” In his younger years, he also enjoyed restoring and selling old cars.
Tim had a lifelong love of animals and was known for adopting any stray dog or cat he came across. This passion required many trips to the store to stock up on pet food and kitty litter. Once online delivery of these items became possible, there was always another box of pet supplies delivered to his doorstep.
Pastor C.J. Plogger will officiate a funeral service for Tim on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at 12Noon with calling hours beginning two hours prior to the service, from 10 to 12Noon, all held at Eichholtz & Daring Funeral Home, 321 N. Main St. Bellefontaine, OH 43311. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Cemetery, West Liberty.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Logan County Animal Shelter, 284 County Road 32 S, Bellefontaine, Ohio, 43311, or by following the link below where a memorial kennel will be sponsored in Tim’s name, honoring his enduring love of animals.
