Steven Ray Holycross

Steven Ray Holycross, 75, of DeGraff, passed away and joined his wife in heaven on Friday, September 4, 2026.

He was born in Bellefontaine, Ohio, on January 29, 1951, to the late Raymond Holycross Sr. and Lois (Buchenroth) Holycross.

Steve married Shirley (Brown) Holycross, and they spent over 38 years together before her passing on May 14, 2012. Together they created a wonderful and beautiful life. They leave behind their children: Steven Holycross Jr. of North Lewisburg, Greg Holycross of DeGraff, Jeremy Holycross of Columbus, Ryan Holycross of DeGraff, and Julie Holycross of DeGraff.

Survivors also include his grandchildren: Alexa, Kandas, Kaylee, Kyleah, Isabella, Greyson, Adaline, and Blake; great grandchildren: Raelyn and Zariah; his sister, Connie Akers and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his brother, Raymond “Ray” Holycross, Jr. and his sister, Janet Holycross.

Steve was a member at Redemption Bible Church in Bellefontaine. He loved gardening and sharing his vegetables that he worked hard to grow. He never met a stranger and would talk to anyone that would listen. He enjoyed fishing, liked cars and cheering on the Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Browns. Above all, he loved his family, especially his grandchildren and he will be deeply missed.

Dana Kidder will officiate a funeral service for Steve on Friday, September 11, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Eichholtz and Daring Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 321 N Main Street, Bellefontaine. Visitation will be on Thursday, September 10, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service Friday in Greenwood-Union Cemetery in DeGraff.
