Robert L. "Bob" Cooper Jr., 76, of Bellefontaine, passed away on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, in the James Cancer Hospital of The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, Columbus.
He was born on July 23, 1949, in Urbana, OH, the son of the late Robert Lowell and Nellie Vaughn (White) Cooper.
On August 16, 1975, he married Cheryl Ann "Cheri" (Wilde) Cooper at Kaiser Lake, Ohio and she survives in Bellefontaine.
He is also survived by their two children, Nate (Erin) Cooper of Mt. Juliet, TN, and Erin Cooper of Bellefontaine, four grandchildren, Emma Crabtree, Rylee Crabtree, Everett Cooper, and Wesley Cooper, a sister, Shirley Burden of Urbana, a sister-in-law, Tess (Mike) Linkinhoker of Hilliard, OH, a brother-in-law, Ron Wilde of Upper Arlington, OH, his nieces and nephews, Angie (Jeremy) Jacobs, Andy (Tamara) Koerner, Connie (Dennis) Gleason, and Debbie Snyder, and many great nieces and nephews and great-great nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Pat Koerner, Nancy Snyder, and Charlotte Cooper, a niece, Lori Routzong, and brothers-in-law, Larry Burden and John Snyder.
Bob worked as a foundryman for most of his career, retiring from Quincy Castings. He was a founding member of the "Kingscreek Social Club", which included three of his close friends, Philip "Pearl" Kandel, Jerry Adams, and Chris Woodruff. He also belonged to the Moose Lodge, Bellefontaine, and enjoyed golfing, fishing, and playing ping pong. He was a sports fan and his teams included the Cleveland Browns, The Ohio State Buckeyes, and the Cincinnati Reds. He loved spending time with his family and supported his children and grandchildren in their sports and activities.
Celebration of life services are being planned for a later date.
