Phyllis J. Rees, 100, passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2026.
She was born on June 28, 1926, to the late Carl and Eva DeLacy (Starrett) Jenkins. She lived in Bellefontaine until moving to Greenville, Ohio in 2003, then to Sarasota, Florida in 2013. For the last three years she resided back in Greenville, Ohio.
On June 7, 1946, Phyllis married Robert "Bob" Rees, and he preceded her in death on November 12, 2002, after a 56-year marriage.
Phyllis worked at Equity Dairy where she met her husband. Later, she worked at Hopewell Dairy, Bulldog Electric, and then as a stay-at-home mother and homemaker. When her youngest child was in high school, Phyllis returned to work at the local cable TV company.
Phyllis was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Bellefontaine for most of her life.
Phyllis had a strong faith and enjoyed laughing. Family was important to her, and she stayed connected throughout her life with 8 siblings and many nieces and nephews.
Survivors include her children Cindy (Byron d. 2011) Byler, Becky (Gaylen) Blosser, Rob (Sue) Rees, 7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
There will be no public funeral service, as the family would prefer loved ones to remember Phyllis as she was just 3 months ago at her 100th birthday celebration. She was still full of life, wearing her sash and tiara.
