Pamela Sue Pulfer, née Ellis, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family on August 15, 2026.
Pam was born on October 13, 1949, in Bellefontaine, Ohio, to William and Bettie Lou Ellis. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend whose greatest joy in life was her family.
On June 10, 1967, Pam married the love of her life, Phil Pulfer. They were married at a young age and began building their life together. After the birth of their first child, Amy, Pam and Phil returned to high school in 1969 to complete their education and graduate together from Bellefontaine High School and purportedly were the first married couple ever to graduate from Bellefontaine High School. Their journey of growing up together, raising a family, and facing life’s joys and challenges side by side was a testament to their enduring love and commitment to each other.
Pam and Phil were blessed with three children: Amy, Andy, and Alan. She took tremendous pride in her children and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her family was truly the center of her world, and she cherished every moment spent with them and most probably the last couple of decades you would probably have found her at a baseball / softball or football field cheering on all of her grandchildren on, in whatever they were doing. In the end she loved being a grandma, probably most of all after her boyfriend Phil.
Pam was a woman of strong faith. She was a member of First Lutheran Church, and her faith was an important part of her life. She carried that faith through both joyful and difficult seasons, always finding strength in God and in the people she loved.
She is survived by her children, Amy, Andy (Julie), and Alan (Cathy); her 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; her step-mother-in-law Jo Ann Pulfer, her older sister, Cathie Hubbard; her younger brother Patrick, and his wife, Debbie; and many nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends who loved her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her in-laws, including her brother-in-law, Jon Hubbard.
Pam will be remembered for the love she gave so freely, the strength she showed throughout her life, her unwavering faith, and the countless memories she created with those she loved. Her family takes comfort in knowing that her legacy will live on through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and all those whose lives she touched.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Costin Family Practice for the compassionate care they provided Pam throughout the years. They also wish to thank the wonderful people at Hospice and Catholic Social Services, with special appreciation to her aide, Cavilion, for the kindness, compassion, and loving care shown to Pam and her family during her final days.
Pam’s life was a gift to all who knew and loved her. Though she will be deeply missed, her family will carry her memories, her love, and her faith with them always.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday August 29, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the First Lutheran Church located at 208 West Sandusky Ave. Bellefontaine, OH 43311. The family will have a calling hour, 1-hour prior to the memorial service to receive family and friends in Pam’s honor.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, or Hospice in Pam’s name to help fight this dreaded and awful disease.
