Bellefontaine

Nancy Kay Scott, 88, of Bellefontaine, passed away at 2:05 p.m. on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at Otterbein Green Hills Senior Life Community. She was born on July 29, 1937, in Bellefontaine to the late Fern and Gerald Prater.

On July 18, 1959, Nancy married Bryon Scott, and they enjoyed 63 years together. Byron passed on October 1, 2022.

Nancy is survived by sons, Bryan (Karen) and Brad (Missy) of Bellefontaine; grandchildren, Conner (Katelyn) Scott of Gahanna, Casey Scott of Brooklyn New York, Bailey (Daulton) Mosbarger of Bellefontaine, and Turner Scott of Worthington, OH; brother-in-law, Carmen Scott of Bellefontaine; great-granddaughter, Molly Jane Mosbarger; and several nieces and nephews

Along with her parents and husband, Nancy was also preceded in death by her twin brother, James Prater; younger brother, Rick Prater; and sister-in-law, Carole M. Delong

She graduated from Bellefontaine High School in 1955, worked as a medical secretary for Dr. Charles Arnett, and joined Mary Rutan Hospital in 1973. Starting at the switchboard, she later moved to Medical Records, the Business Office, and eventually the Cardiology Department, where she retired in November 2002.

Nancy enjoyed interior design and decorated her home with care. She also tended a vibrant flower garden and practiced various crafts, including painting, pottery, quilting, and jewelry making. Her favorite holiday was Christmas, when she created memorable celebrations for her family.

The family thanks the staff at Otterbein Green Hills for their years of dedicated care. Every time you visited her room, you brightened her day, particularly when you admired the new earrings on her cow pictures. You truly became part of her extended family.

Throughout Nancy’s life she received much joy from her K-9 companions, Heather, Buffy and Zipper. Because of this, memorial contributions may be made to the newly constructed Logan County Animal Shelter, 284 County Road 32 S, Bellefontaine, Ohio, 43311

A private burial for Nancy will be held at Bellefontaine Cemetery at a later date.
