Nancy Lee Scherer, 77, of West Liberty, passed away Tuesday evening, August 18, 2026, at Otterbein Green Hills Senior Life Community.
Nancy was born in Bellefontaine, Ohio, on November 27, 1948, to the late Glenn Eugene Pash and Amanda M. (Smith) Pash. She married Harold Scherer on May 11, 1998, in Sevierville, Tennessee, and he preceded her in death on May 23, 2014.
Nancy is survived by her children: Angela (Matthew Dawson) Coleman of Columbus, and Anthony Hanback of Charlotte, North Carolina; 2 grandchildren: Morganne (Kevin) Auger and Logan Coleman; and 4 great-grandchildren, Penelope Coleman, Henry Auger, Marlowe Auger, and Winston Auger; sister, Glenna Atherton; brother, Dennis Pash; and several nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents and husband, Nancy was preceded in death by her brothers, Norman Pash and Bo Pash.
Nancy enjoyed shopping, cooking, watching cooking shows, dining out, taking gambling riverboat trips, reading her Bible, collecting Native American Indian items, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In her younger years, she was a gifted seamstress who made clothes and costumes for her children and grandchildren. She took pride in her appearance, loved keeping up with the latest fashions, and always made sure her hair, nails, and pedicures were done. Blunt and strong-willed, Nancy spoke her mind but never knew a stranger. She was proud of her children and their careers and was always eager to share their accomplishments. She treasured fishing with her children and teaching her grandchildren to fish. Nancy also loved baking, and her homemade coconut cream pie was a family favorite. She attended the Walnut Grove United Methodist Church.
Pastor David Moore will officiate Nancy's graveside service on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. in Bellefontaine Cemetery.
