Matthew E. Cox

Matthew E. Cox, 56, of Bellefontaine, passed away at 12:24 a.m. on Friday, August 7, 2026, at Otterbein Green Hills Senior Life Community in West Liberty. He was born in Bellefontaine, Ohio on March 16, 1970, to Larry E. Cox, who survives, and the late Ellen Louise (Anderson) Cox.

Along with his father, Matthew is also survived by his children, Jessica (Brad) Brown, and Alex Pulfer; brother, Eric Cox; and nephews, Andy Cox and Lane Cox.

Matthew was preceded in death by his mother, son, Devin Allen, and brother, Jeff Cox.

Matthew graduated from Bellefontaine High School in 1989. He worked as a truck driver, traveling across the country, and took great pride in his job. Meticulous by nature, he kept everything clean, especially his car. Matthew loved cars, was a member of the Teamsters Union, and often helped his father work on antique cars. He also loved horses, enjoyed spending time at racetracks, and cherished going out to eat with his family.

The family will hold a private burial at Fairview Cemetery in Belle Center.
