Kristopher Adam Myers, age 46, lived life to the fullest and always found a reason to smile. He slipped the surly bonds of this earth on December 1, 2025, but not without leaving behind a profound legacy of love. He died swiftly and unexpectedly of natural causes at home. Kris was born on March 8, 1979, in Wheeling, WV to Kenneth and Susan Myers, who survive.

On August 2, 2003, Kris married the love of his life, his other half, his soulmate and mother of his children, Christina Marie (Weiker) Myers, who also survives. They shared a special brand of love rarely found outside of a fairytale than in this modern world.

Kris's legacy is most easily observed in the eyes and hearts of Kris & Christy's four lovely children. Kathyrn Marie (18), William Allen (16), Allison Viola (14) and Andrew Henry (14). They are overwhelmingly grateful and consider themselves lucky to have had such a doting and devoted father even though his time with them was entirely too short.

He is survived by his grandmothers Reba Myers Barker of Port Charlotte, FL and Virgina Ruth Green of St. Clairsville, OH and preceded in death by his grandfathers Harry Myers, William Willis Green and Jerry Barker.

He is also survived by his only brother Kyle & Erin (Majewski) Myers of Maitland, FL and their children Nora, Lincoln, Otto, and Hattie. His Father- and Mother-in-law Philip & Patty Weiker of Fremont, OH and recently of Bellefontaine, OH. His Brother-in-law Anthony & Heather (Lane) Weiker of London, UK and their children Benjamin, Henry, Liza, and Bella. He is survived and forever cherished by many aunts, uncles, cousins, esteemed colleagues and countless dear friends.

Kris was a 1997 graduate of Fremont Ross High School, a 2002 graduate of Bowling Green State University with a BA in Parks and Recreation Administration, and a 2019 graduate of Ohio University with a Master of Public Administration. Kris put his servant's heart and passion for recreation to perfect use as the Parks and Recreation Superintendent for the Bellefontaine Joint Recreation District. His career in parks & rec started at a very early age, picking up litter at the playground before playing, unlocking parks by bicycle before church with dad, and working ball tournaments in grade school with a walkie talkie and field chalker. He was always working but he was so perfectly himself on the job that it rarely felt like work. He served the citizens of Bellefontaine and Logan County faithfully for 21 summers. He was always so proud to be accused of being from Bellefontaine, a lovely community that chose us, welcomed us and wrapped its arms around that bright eyed young couple all those years ago.

As one of his favorite hobbies, Kris was a well-respected OHSAA football official with an esteemed 30-year career including countless games, classes, state finals, replays and photographs. Kris saw officiating as a joyful pursuit of preserving the integrity of the game that he shared with his father and had already planted that seed with his oldest son.

If you had the pleasure of knowing Kris, odds are he taught you something about recreation, an activity of leisure for the purpose of enjoyment. Maybe he taught you to throw, catch, pitch, hit, kick, dribble, or shoot a ball; swing a club, bat, racket or paddle. Or maybe he joined in the game you were already playing. Maybe he showed you how to paint a field, picnic table, or fence; lay out a field, court, pool, schedule, draft, or bracket or encouraged you to coach. Maybe he taught you to plant, protect, or appreciate a tree. Maybe he taught you to ski and appreciate the snow. Maybe he taught you how to make a great call or let the game unfold, how to win humbly or lose gracefully, how to include everyone or not to forsake the experience in pursuit of the win. Did he teach you how to genuinely enjoy whatever you are doing, because "life is too short"? Please continue to enjoy all those things and think of his smile and laugh when you do, then his life's work will be complete.
