John Greene
John D. “Denny” Greene, 66, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away Monday, April 15, 2013 at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima, Ohio.
He was born October 31, 1946, in Urbana, Ohio to the late John and Erdean (Midgley) Greene. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Christian Horne.
On June 8, 1968, he married the former Judy Berry in Bellefontaine and she survives along with their children, Heather (Chris) Horne of Kenton, Ohio, Dane (Kacy) Greene of East Liberty, Ohio and John Devin (Carla) Greene of Bellefontaine; his sisters, Cheryl (Warren) Campbell of Alexandria, Ohio and Sharon (Gary) Kegg of Westerville, Ohio, and six grandchildren, Dustin, Brayden, Dalton, Kenidi, John Derek and Cameo.
A United Sates Air Force Veteran serving in Vietnam, he was a member of the American Legion Post #173, BPOE #132, where he served as Past Exulted Ruler, and was a founding member the Logan County Archers. He enjoyed woodworking, cooking, hunting, fishing, golf, bowling, muscle cars, and riding motorcycles. He also enjoyed handgun competitions and was competitive in archery.
John retired from Honda of America in 2009 where he worked in Quality Control as an Engineering Coordinator at the Marysville, Ohio motorcycle plant.
Calling hours will be Friday, April 19, 2013 from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, April 20, 2013 at the Highland Memorial Cemetery in West Liberty, Ohio with military honors by the Logan County Veterans Honor Guard.
The staff of the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine assisted the family with the arrangements.
