Herbert Joseph Bensman Jr., 64, of Bellefontaine, passed away peacefully with his family by his side, on Wednesday, February 11, 2026.

Herb was born on December 22, 1961, in Kenton, Ohio, a son of the late Herbert and Bernadette (Roof) Bensman. Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by three sisters, Barbara Coons, Susan Gildow, and Darlene Arthur; brother, Dennis Bensman; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Larry Sickles, Cheryl Bensman, Tom Gimbel, Bill Allen, Gary Hesser, Jerry Magann and Jim Gildow.

Herb is survived by his son, Camron Bensman of Lewistown; step-daughter, Jordan (Greg) Bright of Plain City; two grandchildren, Bennett and Cora Bright also of Plain City; seven siblings, Ruth Sickles of Belle Center, Ron Bensman of Bellefontaine, Jinny Gimbel of Urbana, Linda Allen of Belle Center, Donna Hesser of Belle Center, Bob Bensman and Gary Bensman, both of Bellefontaine; sister-in-law, Deborah Bensman of Lewistown; two brothers-in-law, Garry Coons of Bellefontaine, and Phil Arthur of Russells Point; numerous nieces and nephews; good friend and mother of their son, Pam Robson; and his loyal and best friend, Bill Henry.

Herb graduated from Urbana High School before building a long career in HVAC. He spent nearly two decades working with The Strayer Company in Bellefontaine. Herb was a member of Eagles Aries #2166 and VFW Post 1080 in Bellefontaine. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing softball. A dedicated San Francisco 49ers fan, he also loved shopping at Cabela's, grilling, watching James Bond and Clint Eastwood films, and spending time with fellow club members. Known as a teaser and jokester, Herb was always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need. Above all, he deeply cherished his family and friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the VFW Post 1080, 216 Orchard Ave, Bellefontaine.
