Elizabeth Jane Moon

Elizabeth Jane Moon, 62, passed away peacefully at her home in Bellefontaine on Monday morning, March 23, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Jane was born on May 24, 1963, in Bellefontaine to Donna Jean (Adrian) and Harold Richard Moon. She was the fifth of their six children.

Jane leaves behind her partner, Rodney Shaner, the love of her life for over 40 years. Also surviving is her daughter Jessica, her favorite son-in-law Adam Wilcox, and her granddaughter Laila Jane who was quite literally her favorite thing about life.

Jane’s surviving siblings include Terri (Jim) Judd, Richard (Debbie) Moon, Tina (Kenny) Folk, and Lori (Carl) Andrews; nieces and nephews: Kerri Lynn, Jennifer Jane, Tiffany Leanne, Jason Lee, Brandon Richard, and Sarah Elizabeth, along with their spouses and children.

Jane was preceded in death by her father Harold Moon, nieces Kathryn and Crystal, and most recently her older sister Cindy Wirick.

Jane lived most of her life in Logan County, attending Bellefontaine High School, raising her family here and working at Donatos for 20 years. After that, she packed her bags and moved to Georgia. Eventually, she moved back to Ohio to take on the job of being a grandmother, her greatest gig. When it came to Laila, she never missed a program, a parade or a competition.

In her early years, Jane was an avid bowler at TP Lanes, enjoying league nights with her best friend Betty Bodi. Together since childhood, they raised their girls together, worked together, and never lived too far from each other, still calling each other every Monday.

Although a nervous traveler, she made it to almost every state, driving from the passenger side of Rod’s truck. From Vermont to Montana, from Wyoming to Florida. Jane got to see the Grand Canyon, play slots in Vegas, stand at the Four Corners, see Joshua Tree National Park, and feel the wind driving down Route 66. She also enjoyed going to Reds games and NASCAR races. Rod would have taken her to the moon if she asked. Jane loved going to Tim Horton’s with Holly, coffee and catching up with Chelia, lunch with Nikki and Mary Jo, sitting outside or shopping with Patty, and family events with Sara Nicole. These were her favorite things to do, and her favorite people to do them with.

Jane’s wishes were to be cremated. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 3, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. for a visitation period at Eichholtz & Daring Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Bellefontaine, where donuts and coffee will be available for those attending.

Memorial contributions may be made to Logan County Cancer Society, 205 Palmer Ave. Bellefontaine, OH 43311.
