David L. Detrick, 88, of Jackson Center, passed away Friday morning, June 5, 2026.
David was born in Jackson Center, Ohio, on January 27, 1938, to the late Sherman and Farrell (Young) Detrick. He married Kay Wildermuth in 1961, and she preceded him in death on April 1, 2025. David was also preceded in death by son Douglas Detrick.
David is survived by his brother Roger Detrick of Jackson Center; daughter-in-law Kathy Detrick of Florida; grandchildren: Cole Detrick and Krissy Detrick; great-grandchildren: Austin Detrick, Ciara Boyce, and Brooklyn Boyce; several nieces and nephews; and close friend Jerry Ware of Jackson Center.
A 1956 graduate of Jackson Center High School, David served in the US Army during the Korean War. Following his honorable discharge, he worked for Ohio Department of Transportation in purchasing. He was a Past Master of Masonic Lodge #458 in Jackson Center, and was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. David enjoyed golfing, and traveling with his wife Kay. During his retirement, he lived in Myrtle Beach and then moved to Florida, before returning to Ohio several years ago.
A private graveside service will be held in Glen Cemetery, Port Jefferson.
