Dale I. Dyke

Dale Irvin Dyke, 88, of Urbana and formerly of West Liberty, passed away on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, in Mercy Health Springfield Regional Medical Center.

He was born in Germantown, Ohio on August 15, 1937, the son of the late William McKinley and Hazel (Mullen) Dyke.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine Elizabeth (Colvard) Dyke in 2006. He was also preceded in death by a grandchild, Jordan, two sisters and five brothers.

He is survived by five children: Todd (Renee) Dyke, Scott (Diane Williams) Dyke, Monte (Tish) Dyke, Tonya (Dean) Rutan, Jennifer (Tom) Harrell, ten grandchildren: Nalan, Sage, Taylor, Monte Jr., Jena, Kristi, Ben, Jacob, Alex, and Drew, five great grandchildren: Paislee, Madison, Charles, Joyce and Crew, a sister, JoAnne Gram, a brother, Ted (Rita) Dyke and many nieces and nephews.

After graduating from high school, Dale started his career working for Coca Cola and later went to work farming, where he spent the majority of his career. After he slowed down a bit from farming, he worked for Grand Rental Station in Bellefontaine. He loved working on and restoring old tractors and participated in the West Liberty Labor Day Festival for many years. He enjoyed eating at and meeting his friends at the Gathering Place in West Liberty, where Cindy was always so kind to him. When his children were younger, he helped them show animals in the Champaign County Fair. Dale enjoyed mushroom hunting and sitting out on his deck, in his rocker, feeding the birds and squirrels.

The family would like to give a special thank you to ALL of the staff at Hearth & Home, Urbana as well as the staff at both the Urbana Mercy and Springfield Regional Hospitals.

The family held services privately.
