Carolyn J. Burk

Carolyn J. Burk, 77, of Russells Point, passed away Sunday morning, July 12, 2026.

Carolyn was born in Ostrander, Ohio, on October 26, 1948, to the late Marion M. Vincent and Lela J. (Vincent) Fawn. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Burk; and siblings: Marilyn Chapman, Marion M. Vincent, Patricia Ann Wilson, and Bill Vincent.

Carolyn is survived by her sons: Kevin Burk and Earnest Hickok, both of Lakeview; daughter-in-law Selita Hickok of Russells Point; 4 grandchildren: Jasmine, Tyler, Danielle, and Logan; 6 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers: James E. (Janice) Vincent of Urbana, Marvin Wayne Vincent of Jacksonville Beach, Florida, and Rex Allen Vincent of Richwood; a half-sister Marjorie Merchant of Tyler, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Carolyn retired from the Ohio Reformatory for Women after 30 years of employment as a corrections officer. While working for ORW, she obtained Associate Degrees in Psychology, Sociology, Criminology, and Criminal Justice, and earned promotions up to Staff Sergeant. Carolyn was instrumental in creating the program to allow incarcerated mothers to keep their babies within the facility. She loved her family, and always kept them in her thoughts. Carolyn loved to check out yard sales and thrift shops – no bargains got past her. Her cat, Suga Pie, was much loved and became a priority of Carolyn’s.

A celebration of Carolyn’s life will be held at a later date. She will be interred in Oakdale Cemetery, Marysville, beside her daughter Lisa.
