Carole Beth Barrett, 76, of West Liberty, passed away at 9:33 a.m. on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at Mary Rutan Hospital. She was born in Mount Clemens, Michigan on April 6, 1949, to the late Thomas and Audrey (Steffen) Frydel.
On August 15, 1970, she married William Ervin "Bill" Barrett Sr. and he survives.
Carole is also survived by her sons', William Ervin "Bill" (Stephanie) Barrett Jr., and James "Jim" (Tiffany) Barrett; grandchildren, Seth Ramirez, Nevaeh Gordon, Grace (Jordan) Lawrence, Hannah Gordon, Connor Compton, Carlee Compton, and Madaline Barrett; great granddaughter, Charlotte Lawrence; sister, Barbara (Lou) Campbell; brother, James (Kathy) Frydel; and several nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, Carole was also preceded in death by an infant brother, Thomas Frydel.
Nothing brought Carole greater happiness than lending a hand to someone in need. She poured her extraordinary organizational talents into a lifetime of meaningful work-at Adriel School in West Liberty, The Guidance Clinic (later Consolidated Care), and most recently in Care Coordination at Mary Rutan Hospital.
Family, however, was her heart's true joy. She never missed a chance to applaud Bill, Billy, and Jimmy at every concert, halftime show, and State Fair Band performance, and she later became her grandchildren's loudest, proudest cheerleader at games, competitions, performances, and all of their family's many musical and athletic pursuits.
For more than forty years she was a quiet pillar of Bethel Mennonite Church, tenderly caring for the littlest ones in the nursery and teaching Sunday school with a gentle faith that made every child feel deeply seen and cherished.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 8, 2025, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Eichholtz & Daring Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 321 N. Main Street, Bellefontaine. Pastor Rebecca Kauffman will officiate a funeral at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at Bethel Mennonite Church, 416 Washington Street, West Liberty. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Cemetery in West Liberty.
