Andrew "Andy" Mellum

Andrew "Andy" Mellum, 32, of Fairpoint, Ohio and formerly of Bellefontaine, passed away at 9:25 a.m. on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, at The Ohio State University James Cancer Center in Columbus, Ohio.

Andy was born in Columbus, Ohio on July 21, 1990, a son of  Mark Daniel and Beverly Jean (Close) Mellum.

On March 13, 2015, Andy married Kala (McCormick) Mellum in Groton, Connecticut and she survives, along with his parents; four children, Andrew Mellum, Arya Mellum, Aslyn McMahon, and Eva McMahon; four siblings, Lynn (Joshua) Davis, Greg (Tara) Mellum, Aubrey "Dee" Powell, Lisa Marie Mellum; in-laws, Joseph and Linda Knight of Glencoe, Ohio; brothers-in-law, Joseph Knight and Jonathan Knight of Glencoe, Ohio; paternal grandparents, Reuben & Clara Mellum; best friend, Zakary Barrett; and eight nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his biological father William Carles; and maternal grandparents, Ray and Jean Close.

A retired U.S. Navy Veteran who served on the USS Missouri, Andy had worked as an electrical engineer. He enjoyed snowboarding, working with 3-D animation, and watching the Ohio State Buckeyes. His true love was his wife and children.

A visitation will be held from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 321 N. Main Street, Bellefontaine.
